Your report, your labels: custom flags and status badges that show up instantly

Add Moisture Evidence, Monitor, Repair Needed or anything your reports need. Pick a name, an icon and a color, and the button appears on the report the moment you save. It stays in sync with your templates, and the AI fills in model and serial numbers with one click.

Shows up instantly

Short answer: in InspectorData you can add your own report flags and status badges from one window. Open the gear in Step 3, add a flag such as Moisture Evidence, choose an icon and color, and save. It appears on the report immediately, is saved to your template, and every report on that template picks it up.

Fixed labels don't fit every house

Moisture, mold, monitor-only items: inspectors call things out in their own way, and the report should too.

Stuck with the defaults

Danger and Warning don't describe a dry stain that shows past moisture. Clients need the right word.

Changes that don't stick

Add a label in one place and it's missing everywhere else, so every report needs fixing by hand.

Typing what the photo shows

Model and serial numbers copied off a data plate, one character at a time, on every job.

How it works

Everything lives behind one gear in Step 3, Build Report, with a Statuses tab and a Flags tab.

  • 1. Open the gear next to Report Components.
  • 2. Click + Add on the Flags or Statuses tab. The cursor is already in the name box, so you just type. No extra pop-up.
  • 3. Pick an icon and a color: water drop, mold, bolt, fire, bug, wrench, eye and more.
  • 4. Save. The button is on the report at once, in the color you picked.
Status vs flag
Status

Marks a whole part, like 2.5 Flashing & Trim: Inspected, Deficient, Not Present.

Flag

Marks one comment, like 2.5-5: Danger, Safety Issue, Moisture Evidence.

Always in sync with your templates

One change, every report that uses the template.

Instant

Save in the gear and the report updates right away, no reload.

Both directions

Changes in the gear save to the template. Changes in the template reach each report the next time it opens.

Your colors, everywhere

Each flag uses the color you chose, on the report and in the template editor.

Nothing lost

Remove a flag from the template and older reports that use it keep it, so marked comments stay marked.

Serial numbers in one click

Put the data-plate photo on its comment and click Generate. The AI writes the brand, model number, serial number, manufacture date and capacity into the comment, copied exactly as printed. Unreadable characters become "?", and it never invents a number.

After one click on Generate
The gas water heater is a 50-gallon unit, Model: XE50T06ST45U1, Serial: 2219A123456, manufactured May 2019.

Built by a Certified Master Inspector

This came straight from the field: a Moisture Evidence flag was needed for a dry stain in a laundry room that only showed past moisture. It was added in the gear and on the report in seconds, and the same report's water heater label was read by the AI and checked digit by digit against the photo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add my own flags to a home inspection report?

Yes. In Step 3 open the gear, go to the Flags tab and click + Add. Type the name (for example Moisture Evidence), pick an icon and a color, and save. The new button appears on every comment right away.

What is the difference between a status and a flag?

A status marks a whole part of the report, like Inspected, Deficient or Not Present on 1.1 Roof Covering. A flag marks one comment, like Danger, Safety Issue or Moisture Evidence on comment 2.5-5.

Do changes reach my other reports?

Yes. Flags and statuses are saved to the report template. Every report that uses that template picks up new or changed ones the next time it is opened.

What happens to old reports if I remove a flag?

Reports that already use it keep it, so nothing you marked is lost. It disappears from the template for new work.

Can the AI fill in model and serial numbers?

Yes. With one click on Generate, the AI reads a data plate in the photo and writes the brand, model number, serial number, date and capacity into the comment, exactly as printed.

Is there an extra charge?

No. Custom flags, status badges and the serial number reader are included with every InspectorData plan.
