How InspectorData protects your report data
Written by Lisa Meine, InterNACHI Master Inspector (CMI #47330) · Updated November 1, 2026
Your reports are your liability record for years. Here is exactly how InspectorData keeps them safe while you write, after you deliver, and if you ever leave.
While you write
- Autosave every 3 seconds. The report writer checks for changes every 3 seconds and saves them to the server. Closing a tab, a dead laptop battery or a dropped connection does not wipe out the comments you already wrote.
- Phone and desktop. Take photos and notes on the mobile app for iPhone, Android and iPad, and finish the report on any computer in the browser. The mobile app has offline mode, so work done without signal syncs when you are back online.
After you deliver
- Backups every 30 minutes. The database is backed up every 30 minutes.
- Standby copy every 10 minutes. A second server receives a fresh copy every 10 minutes.
- Backup jobs are watched. An automatic check runs every 10 minutes to confirm the backup jobs are still scheduled, and alerts us if one is missing.
If you ever leave
- Your data is yours. Reports export to PDF, your report list exports to CSV, and photos download as a ZIP.
- No long-term contract. $79/month flat, monthly, cancel any time.
Ask every vendor these four questions
Before you move years of reports into any inspection software, including ours, get these answers in writing:
- How often does it save my work while I write?
- How often is the data backed up, and to where?
- Can I export every report, photo and client?
- How long is the contract?

Frequently Asked Questions
What stops accidental data loss during an inspection?
In InspectorData the report writer checks for changes every 3 seconds and saves them to the server while you work, so closing a tab or losing power does not wipe out what you wrote. Behind that, the database is backed up every 30 minutes and copied to a standby server every 10 minutes.
